Very helpful. I've gone from hating these intrusive objects in my ear to depending on them. I have several "high end" pair and rotate among them, occasionally going to some sub-twenty dollar cheapies if I moving around much. (I learned the hard way that it's easy to catch a wire on a door handle or step on it with disastrous consequences to the earphone.) At least some of the manufacturers--Sony and Panasonic, for example--have an exchange program. Incidentally, I wasn't totally convinced that these little things could equal full-sized headphones until I tried the Sony MDR-EX700LP phones. Whereas other phones overemphasized the treble, deemphasized the bass, and separated the sound into left and right ear, the Sony phones had everything balanced perfectly, with the sound "centered" in a way that made you feel like a walking concert hall.

Wow, very good info about IEM. I'm going to have to re-read some of this. I sent my custom molds to LiveWires and I'm a little disappointed in the turn around time. They received my order on Jan 16th, and they are now estimating it will be until the end of March before I receive them. When I sent them in, they gave me a 3 week turn around time, now it's 3 months.
